Superior Adult only Vegetarian Friendly Guesthouse Isle of Wight

Opening July 4th 2020

Extra Precautions & Services

The government are advising that Bed & Breakfast establishments may open from July 4th - but this is subject to change. We currently are accepting bookings commencing 4th July onward. We realise that many people will be concerned about taking a break away from home when the lockdown is over.

We want to reassure guests and potential guests that we take COVID-19 very seriously - your safety is our priority. We will be putting in place special procedures to shield guests as much as possible from the risk of infection.

For The Protection Of Our Guests:

In preparation for opening and welcoming our guests we will be ensuring that:

  • All touch surfaces will be sanitised daily. We will be wearing masks when we welcome you, and also when serving you in the dining room.
  • Key, kettles and all surfaces will be sanitised between guests.
  • Mattress and pillow protectors will be changed between guests. All cushions and throws have been removed from the rooms, sadly the rooms will not be as pretty, but we can’t have anything that may lead to cross contamination.
  • Hairdryers will be available for guests on request so we can keep them disinfected.
  • TV remotes will be placed in fresh sealed plastic bags between guests.
  • The lounge will be closed for the duration of the pandemic, and leaflets have been removed, but will be available on request.
  • Our guestbook has been removed, but we would be glad to have your reviews online.
  • We will be serving breakfast in two sittings allowing people to remain 6 feet apart. Breakfast orders will be taken the day before, on the day of arrival, at arrival. There will be no buffet, fruit and cereals will still be available, but will be served. Our usual high standard of food preparation and cooking will still apply!

Evening Meal Service

  • If restaurants are closed, we will be offering evening meals until they, and the pubs, are open. We will have the menu and times bookable at breakfast for the coming evening. We will be offering two courses, main and dessert. Vegetarian or vegan options will be available. There will be two choices of each course daily, changed every day.

With the above measures in place, we feel confident we can dramatically reduce the risk of contracting the virus while staying at our guest house.

By serving evening meals you can be sure that you will be able to have somewhere to eat without worrying that the restaurants and pubs are full (they will be subject to social distancing rules) or not open.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the beautiful Isle of Wight!

Cancellation Policy

As you can imagine our business has been hit extremely hard - with no new bookings coming in since news of the virus broke.

Although people believe that, because they haven't stayed yet they should be entitled to a refund of deposits made, they do not always appreciate that the hotel requires maintenance, carpet cleaning, linens, along with the regular business rates, utilities, licences etc -  and all these need to be paid through the winter.

We take bookings and reserve rooms based on a customer's promise to stay with us for a certain period during the year, and this is a legal contract. When people go abroad they take out travel insurance in the event of having no option but to cancel. We ourselves strongly recommend to our customers that they do so too. Unfortunately people rarely do this for breaks in the UK, and expect the business owner to stand the loss.

Refunding every deposit at this point in time will most likely result in the complete closure of our business which is not in anyone's interest.

Having said all this, we do not want you to lose your deposit if it can be avoided, and for that reason we are very willing to transfer it to a stay later in the season when this crisis has passed.

Since this crisis is unprecedented, we are having to react to government advice and regulations as and when they are released.

People over 65 are recommended to self isolate for a period of 12 weeks from  16/3/2020.

If you wish to postpone your booking for stays commencing prior to 16/6/2020 please call us to re schedule your stay and your deposit will be transferred to the new dates.

If this advice changes, we reserve the right to update our cancellation policy.

We know people may not be in a position to choose an alternative date at this moment in time, so we are happy to float the booking for the time being.

If you wish to cancel your reservation the normal cancellation policy will apply.

We hope you understand our position, and will choose to support us in these difficult times. And we truly hope that you stay safe and well.

Our very best wishes,

Ann & Ray
