Our intent is to ensure that all our guests, including those with disabilities and senior visitors, enjoy a warm welcome and we will do our best to make a visit to Foxhills work well for everyone within the limitations of a Victorian building. We will be pleased to assist with luggage whenever possible.
Access for wheelchair users and others with limited mobility.
Foxhills was originally built in the Victorian era and there have been sympathetic extensions to the original house over the years. This construction was carried out at a time when the needs of disabled people were not considered and so it has not been possible to make the building fully accessible to wheelchair users. However we do have one ground floor room with a DOUBLE bed which is suitable for wheelchair access to the room but not to the shower. People with limited mobility who can manage some stairs should know that all bedrooms are on the first floor accessed via a long flight of stairs and then a short flight. None of the bedrooms are adapted for wheelchair users. The entrance to Foxhills is approached directly from the car park, and there is one step up to the doorsill. The door is wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair accessing the hallway.
Visually impaired visitors
Foxhills is well-lit and has bedrooms that are light and airy with no dark décor. The public areas are large and we have endeavoured to minimize trip hazards.. Reading lights are provided to supplement bedroom lighting. Information and menus are available in large print on request. Guide dogs and other assistance dogs are welcome and we reserve the downstairs bedroom specifically.
Visitors with special dietary needs.
We are happy to meet the needs of guests with special dietary requirements whenever possible. We have designed our breakfast menu to be vegetarian, vegan and gluten free friendly. Prior notice for any other requirement would be appreciated, unfortunately we cannot guarantee we can comply with every rquest.
Deaf/hard-of-hearing guests and vulnerable guests
Procedures are in place to assist guests in case of fire or other emergency.
We will review access issues regularly and improve whenever possible.
